Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Strategic Training & Development Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) program. In this role, you will drive nationwide training strategy for sensor deployment and sustainment, support critical national security missions, and experience employee ownership in a company where your work directly contributes to its success.

Responsibilities

As the Strategic Training & Development SME, you will:

  • Serve as the lead Training SME in direct support of CBP government programs.
  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive training programs supporting sensor deployment, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Oversee the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of training curriculum for nationwide use.
  • Deliver expert instruction on sensor technologies, operational tactics, deployment methodologies, troubleshooting, and sustainment procedures.
  • Develop and apply evaluation metrics to measure training effectiveness, operator proficiency, and overall program outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing subject matter expertise to ensure training aligns with evolving operational requirements and advancing technologies.
  • Advise senior government leadership on training strategy, program status, best practices, lessons learned, and integration of field feedback.
  • Mentor and support trainer development to ensure continuity, consistency, and long-term program sustainability across all sectors.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:

  • Active CBP Background Investigation (BI) or TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 11–12 years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 8–10 years of related experience.
  • Operational and headquarters-level experience within large government agencies, with a focus on sensor operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate training programs for cross-functional teams of sensor operators and trainers.
  • Experience coordinating and providing technical guidance for sensor operations across diverse operational environments within the United States.
  • Strong project and resource management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership and operators at all organizational levels, serving as a bridge between headquarters and field operations.
  • Proactive, collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement and team leadership.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational discipline.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $113,400.00/Yr. - USD $189,300.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
