Responsibilities

  • Performs technical functions related to the support of development engineering activities such as set up, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, proto-type models or specialized test equipment.
  • Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems.
  • Conducts engineering/ development tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in general research work.
  • Diagnoses and corrects electronic circuitry malfunctions.
  • Assists in the development of electronic equipment.
  • Provides design details and recommends modifications to engineering designs as needed.
  • May prepare instructional guides for repairing, calibrating, and maintaining equipment and systems.
  • Support rapid construction of multiple Micro UUVs on site in a lab environment. The support required includes:
    • Electrical assembly, modifications, and troubleshooting
    • Soldering and rework – through hole, surface mount (comfortable doing as small as 0603 resistors), connectors (including high density like Seacon MINE-19, MIND-8, and 16 pin LEMO)
    • Basic troubleshooting – continuity checks, voltage test points
    • Wire crimping – variety of different types with instruction
    • Wire splicing – solder and heatshrink to join sections of wire
    • Comfortable reading electrical schematics
  • Mechanical assembly and fitment
    • Operate FDM 3D Printers
    • Comfortable with hand and shop power tools
      • Drills, dremel, drill press, band saw, sanders, arbor press, lathe?
    • Part finishing – drill/ream undersized holes to correct diameter, tapping, filing. Cleaning support material from 3D printed parts
    • Part assembly
      • Bolts, threaded inserts, captive nuts, etc.
  • Comfortable reading mechanical drawings

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 4-5 years of related work experience
  • Active Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
