As a SkillBridge Acquisition Management Specialist Intern with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity learn the following:
- Learn from Subject Matter Experts on topics such as Acquisition Planning, Contract Management, Performance-Based Logistics (PBL), Compliance and Reporting, and Stakeholder Engagement
Throughout the internship, the SkillBridge Intern will learn and understand how to:
Learning with Acquisition Planning:
- Develop and execute acquisition strategies, including market research, cost-benefit analysis, and risk assessments, focusing on PBL solutions.
- Participate in planning, budgeting, and scheduling acquisition priorities aligned with mission objectives.
Learning with Contract Management:
- Prepare, review, and manage all documentation associated with solicitation, evaluation, award, and administration of contracts, with an emphasis on PBL contracts.
- Evaluate contractor proposals and negotiate terms to ensure successful program delivery and incentives aligned with PBL goals.
- Monitor contractor performance through data analysis, field/site visits, and performance scorecards.
Learning with Performance-Based Logistics Implementation:
- Design and implement PBL strategies to ensure optimal product support, continuous process improvement, and cost-effectiveness across the lifecycle of weapon systems and equipment.
- Work with logistics, engineering, and program management teams to define measurable outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and sustainment metrics.
Learning with Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure acquisition activities comply with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), DFAR PGI, NMCAR, and other DoD-specific policies.
- Prepare and present reports, contract status updates, and briefings to stakeholders and leadership.
Learning with Stakeholder Engagement:
- Facilitate coordination between internal and external stakeholders, including technical experts, end-users, industry partners, and leadership.
- Address and resolve issues related to contract performance, modifications, and changes in requirements.
