Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is looking for a Network Engineer / Systems Administrator with a Public Trust Clearance and to support our Library of Congress effort.

This is a remote/hybrid position

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain enterprise monitoring infrastructure utilizing SNMP and Netflow using tools such as SolarWinds (NPM, NTA), NetMRI, ThousandEyes.

Provide the following recurring activities:

    • transaction tracking within applications
    • predictive analysis for hardware and software events
    • automated responses to events
  • Use enterprise applications to configure infrastructure systems, upgrade software releases and resolve security vulnerabilities per vendor standards.
  • Adhere to the vendor’s best practices and the Library’s processes and practices when planning and executing upgrades and configuration changes.
  • Implement visualizations (such as dashboards) for technical and nontechnical users in formats suited to their roles and necessary to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Implement alerting and notifications for the IT systems and their components
  • Provide Tier-3 support and point of escalation to client's network engineering team, including participating in on call rotation and After hour maintenance windows as required.
  • Experience documenting project requirements, standard operating procedures, and technical guides using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Word.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum qualifications for systems engineers include at least three (3) years of handson experience performing enterprise monitoring with the following tools: Prometheus/Grafana, Cacti, Elastic, New Relic, ServiceNow ITOM, Net MRI or SolarWinds, Cisco CLI, Cisco CCNA certification, and Cisco DNA Center.
  • In addition, the engineers shall have at least three (3) years of experience providing Tier3
  • troubleshooting of network incidents, applying patches, configuring network settings, and writing technical documentation.
  • In addition to experience, one or more of the following OEM certifications is a plus:
    • CCNP Enterprise Infrastructure
    • Cisco Security Infrastructure
    • Palo Alto
    • Prometheus Certified Associate (PCA)
    • ServiceNow CAS-PA

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $91,600.00/Yr. - USD $153,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
