Responsibilities

The IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and documentation of operating systems, network architecture within a multi-level security facility, both inside and outside. This role involves creating and maintaining detailed plans and layouts for IT and network cabling, as well as collaborating closely with customers to ensure that monitoring and installation processes meet or exceed security and performance standards.

 

  • Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain structured cabling systems for voice, data, and video networks.
    • Perform diagnostic testing and repair of network wiring and cabling systems to ensure reliable operation.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational protocols for secure installations.
  • Documentation:
    • Develop and update detailed wiring and cabling plans, ensuring accurate representation of layouts and connections.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of system modifications, including detailed as-built documentation.
    • Prepare technical reports and provide updates to stakeholders on the status of cabling infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and Monitoring:
    • Work closely with customers to gather requirements and design efficient and effective cabling solutions.
    • Engage in regular communications with customers and stakeholders, providing updates and addressing concerns.
    • Coordinate with security teams to ensure that cabling installations conform to multi-level security requirements.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of existing systems to identify potential issues and recommend improvements.

Ensure all work is performed in compliance with occupational safety and health standards.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cabling installation and maintenance, with a focus on secure environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in the use of tools and equipment pertinent to cabling installation and maintenance.
    • Strong understanding of industry standards, including ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and EIA.
    • Familiarity with network and telecommunications systems, protocols, and best practices for secure environments.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications such as BICSI Technician, CompTIA CTP+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
    • Capacity to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
  • Security Requirements:
    • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances as required by the facility.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $77,600.00/Yr. - USD $129,600.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
