Responsibilities

As a Navy Planner/Estimator with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:

  • Conduct availability planning and material identification for CNO Availabilities, scheduled and unscheduled CMAVs, Inactivation CMAVs, Phased Modernization Availabilities, Continuous Maintenance (CM), Repair Availabilities (RAVs), Expeditionary Availabilities (ERAVs), and Emergent Maintenance (EM) using Work Notification (WN)
  • Take all ships force, Alteration Installation Team (AIT), and shipyard work to include service and repair routines, modernization and preventative maintenance actions and convert into work requirement statements to be added to the Ships Work List Item Number (SWLIN)
  • Develop the ships integrated specification work package using all line items, job requirements and identified specifications using the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) in accordance with the revised LCS modernization milestones
  • Plan for availabilities OCONUS for ships forward deployed
  • Determine the amount of material and manpower needed to conduct Production work efforts within prescribed margins
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for developed work specifications and any new work
  • Works closely with all shipboard departments to develop comprehensive specifications and cost estimates for a comprehensive work package.
  • Develop and maintain material lists for inclusion in ship drawing updates.
  • Produce cost and man-hour/day estimates and milestones displayed on POA&M GANTT charts and critical path reports.
  • Prepare cost and time estimates (time, labor, material and travel) for alteration and repairs to ship HM&E or electronic systems.
  • Conduct thorough ship checks and site visits to identify detailed scope of work.
  • Conduct analysis of estimated costs versus actual costs and develop lessons learned and recommendations for improvement.

 

Qualifications

  • H.S. Graduate, trade or industrial school
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Thorough understanding of Work Specification development, as outlined in the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM).

Minimum 3+ years of experience in:

  • Conducting planning and estimating related work aboard U.S. Navy ships (LCS experience is highly favored)
  • Thorough understanding of repair definition, planning and production procedures
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting Ship’s Installation Drawings and Technical Manuals
  • Reading and navigating through a ships Consolidated Shipboard Maintenance Plan (CSMP)
  • Proficient with MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
