As a Database Administrator with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have an opportunity to do the following:
- Support a Department of Justice program, who designs, builds, and implements highly technical data collection systems.
- Support a technology lab who dynamically implements technology to meet their outside customers uniquely defined evidence collection needs.
- Architect, implement and administer globally distributed SQL Server instances, using clustering and DR/COOP for high availability.
- Analyze large, complex systems to determine performance bottlenecks, application bugs, and opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Optimize SQL Server to accommodate large data volumes and high throughput processing.
- Capture and analyze database activity to identify improvements in indexing, file structure, and maintenance processes.
- Plan and conduct database architecture assessments that examine the database.
- Management System (DBMS) and database configuration and performance.
- Identify areas of instability and deviations from best practices with database components.
- Participate in performance, load and stress testing, and remediation of issues identified.
- Lead the implementation of security hardening and auditing of all SQL server instances across the enterprise.
- Develop scripts to automate SQL tasks as needed.
- Participate in all aspects of the application lifecycle, e.g., requirements analysis and definition, system design, implementation, testing, development, and sustainment.
- Prepare technical designs and documentation (i.e., knowledgebase articles) for use by the help desk.
